April 2017 Newsletter

Library Search e-shelf refresh.

In June 2017 the Library will be switching to a new improved management system which will enable us to manage our print and electronic resources together. These backroom improvements mean that:

  • we can more accurately report on spend and usage of library resources to inform value for money decisions

  • there will be efficiencies in our procurement and acquisitions processes

  • we will be able to provide faculties with detailed analytics for the first time

As part of this changeover any data currently held in the Library Search e-shelf, will not be transferred automatically

For advice on exporting and backing up your e-shelf please see our instructions here http://bit.ly/e-shelf

If you have any further questions please contact your Academic Liaison Librarian.

17/18 reading lists

The library team have begun creating lists for new 17/18 modules from the indicative reading given in module proformas. Please search the reading list system to see if a list has already been started for your module.

If you find a list for your module please sign in (sign up if it is your first time using the service) and click the ‘add to my lists’ button. You may also assign yourself as owner of the list which you can then edit.

If a list hasn’t been created for your module please create a new list, the new module codes are now available in the system. If you would like a refresher or full training on the system or if you would like support in building your list please contact me

Training, tools and support for the system can be found on the Tools area of the staff web pages https://myintranet.westminster.ac.uk/my-tools/online-reading-lists
