Zines Collection

The Library's archi-zine collection is now available for staff and students to peruse. You can find the most recent issues on the latest journal and magazine issues display, visible as soon as you enter the 3rd floor. The rest of the Zine collection can be found at the back of the dissertation shelves - just look for the coloured boxes and the poster.

Selected Property and Construction dissertations now in collection

We are happy to report that we've now added exemplary PG dissertations in Construction and Property study areas to the library collection. These should be available on the shelves from next week. Only dissertations rated 65% and above have been included and selection has been at the discretion of tutors.

EPQ Sessions:

Throughout this year a small library project team have been working with the University's outreach team to help prepare A-level students with their Extended research project (EPQ). This project helps with the transition from school/college to university and so a taste of the HE experience is very valuable. The EPQ is an extended research project, a qualification equivalent to half an A-level and is on a topic of the student’s choice, our part in the project is to deliver the opening training session for the group.

We cover different areas of information literacy, including google searching, evaluating material, hands on, demos and discussions. We're keen to involve more lecturers and academics in the project - so drop us a line if you're interested in getting involved, we'd love to hear from you.

Bright Sparks

The Bright Sparks initiave has been extremely popular again this year, with hundreds of suggestions and ideas submitted to the competition. The 3 shortlisted ideas will be announced in the first week of December and students can then vote on their favourite. Last year's winning idea, the Read & Relax collection, can be found on the 2nd floor, where recent, popular fiction titles for are available to borrow.

UCL Libraries Access

Just a reminder to all staff that we no longer have a reciprocal agreement with UCL for our students to use their libraries (even in a reference only capacity). As part of the SCONUL Access scheme, only Postgraduate RESEARCH students and staff can use the UCL libraries (these users should sign up on the to the SCONUL Access scheme before visiting UCL).
