Training/ inductions
It’s been great to meet all of the new ABE students and returning faces during our training and induction sessions in the last few weeks.
In total, from mid-September to early November we will have planned and run 22 embedded sessions and conducted 21 inductions and tours.
Kanopy
We are pleased to announce that we now have access a new video streaming service called Kanopy
The serviced can be reached via library search (just search Kanopy). Individual video titles are also discoverable within general searches.
Some of the benefits of Kanopy:
Easy to use interface – it looks a lot like Netflix
Unlimited users can watch a film at any one time
Films can be shown in classes/lectures and any other group setting
Users can create clips and playlists (they’ll need to set up an account within Kanopy to do so), and can share and embed links to films
Films can be viewed on all devices
Kanopy's website and video player are fully compatible with all screen readers on desktop browsers, as well as iOS and Android devices
Kanopy is compatible with Talis

Our new Library champion Hussain Tawanaee
We are pleased to announce the appointment of our new library Champion Hussain Tawanaee. Hussain is a third year student from the department of Property and Construction and he will be working with our team to liaise with fellow students about library support and services and to manage a budget of £500 to be spent on Library resources identified and requested by the students he represents.
Box of Broadcasts back up and running
For those of you who are keen users of the service Box Of Broadcasts (BOB) you will be pleased to hear that renovations are now finished and the tool is fully functional again.
For those of you who are not familiar with BOB it’s an on-demand TV and radio service for education containing 1.5 million broadcasts. BoB contains a permanent archive of all broadcast content from nine channels: BBC1 London / BBC2 / BBC4 / ITV London / Channel 4 / More4 / Channel 5 / BBC Radio 4 / BBC Radio 4 Extra. You can search and request content from BBC programmes back to 2007.
